Introduction to Palliative Nursing Care
The aim of this course is to provide an introduction
to the subject of palliative care nursing. After covering
the key principles of this area of nursing care, a series
of competency self-assessment exercises are offered to
enable a nurse to assess their own skills and to draw
up an action plan for development. A case study, with
accompanying activities which encourage you to reflect
on key palliative care competencies, is also presented.
This course is primarily aimed at nurses and health professionals
who come into contact with, and manage the care of, patients
in a palliative setting. Although less experienced nurses
will gain the most from the course, the focus on competence
assessment means that experienced palliative nurses will
find benefit from reassessing their knowledge and skills.
The course will also be of value to anyone who has an
interest in palliative care nursing in general.
This is a new course, freely available online provided
