The Respiratory Nurses Association of Ireland Mission and Vision Statement
MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Anail is to provide a forum for promoting excellence in respiratory care, by sharing knowledge, supporting each other and promoting the role of the respiratory nurse to the benefit of the patients. As a specialist nursing group we are a source of knowledge and contribute to raising awareness of respiratory illness.


THE VISION

(1)THE CENTRAL MOTIVATION FOR ANAIL IS THE BENEFIT OF THE RESPIRATORY PATIENT

(2)ANAIL IS A FORUM FOR NURSES INTERESTED IN AND PRACTISING RESPIRATORY CARE
  • Anail is promoted as a respiratory organisation
  • Information is exchanged and novel ways to communicate are developed
(3)ANAIL PROMOTES EXCELLENCE IN RESPIRATORY CARE
  • To support the development of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Community nurses and Practice nurses interested in respiratory care
  • Through the use of guidelines developed by expert groups in respiratory care.
  • Standards and guidelines for nursing care of respiratory patients in a dynamic health care area are set.
(4)THE MEMBERS SHARE KNOWLEDGE AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER
  • The diversity of the knowledge and expertise of anail members is recognised
  • Shared knowledge is a source of benefit and inspiration for each other and the service given to the patient
  • ANAIL provides professional support
(5)ANAIL SUPPORTS THE ROLE OF THE RESPIRATORY NURSE
  • To work within the scope of the nursing practise framework and ethical code of practice
  • The specialist respiratory nurses role improves the quality of life for the patient
  • Highly qualified and motivated respiratory nurses can contribute to the overall patient care outcome within the multidisciplinary team in primary and secondary care.
(6)WE ARE A RESPIRATORY SPECIALIST NURSING GROUP
  • Anail will progress as a specialist group contributing to aspects of respiratory nursing
  • As a specialist nursing group we have influence on the development of the respiratory nurses role
  • To network with other respiratory professional bodies and associations nationally and internationally
  • Anail is a resource group for others
(7)THIS ASSOCIATION RAISES THE AWARENESS OF RESPIRATORY ILLNESS AND SUPPORTS RESEARCH
  • The value of research in nursing is recognised
  • Areas in need of research are identified and developed
  • Respiratory research and publication is encouraged
  • Health promotion is an important element of respiratory care
  • To support respiratory health days organised by affiliated organisations
  • Patient education is pivotal to raising awareness of respiratory illness
  • ANAIL can contribute to health policy related to respiratory services
