a policy on 'Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NIPPV) for patients with Type 2 Respiratory Failure' has been developed in the HSE South by our Anail Secretary Samantha McCabe, Respiratory CNS. It can be viewed in the Guideline section of the website under the heading of 'Non-Invasive Ventilation.


Launch of the Database of Palliative Care, End of Life Care & Bereavement

Courses:

Developed by the Palliative Care Education Taskforce, the Irish Hospice Foundation and the Irish Association for Palliative Care, the
database was launched on the 29th  June 2009, on the Irish Hospice Foundation website: www.hospice-foundation.ie
  • The database is relevant to all healthcare workers whose work involves caring for, or dealing with people who are facing the problems associated with  life-threatening illness or who are bereaved.
  • It is free to access and displays palliative care and associated courses from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Courses are displayed free of charge.

The Asthma Society of Ireland
That Asthma Society of Ireland has announced details of the Órán Ó Muiré Bursary award for 2009.  The focus on the 2009 awards are for nursing research findings which focus on improving the quality of care delivered to people with asthma and/or their families.  This competition is open to all registered nurses in The Republic of Ireland.
