A reminder of the change to the educational criteria for all clinical nurse/midwife specialists.

From September 1st 2010 all nurses and midwives who apply for clinical nurse/midwife specialist status must have acquired a level 8 post-registration National Qualifications Authority of Ireland major award relevant to his/her area of specialist practice prior to their application. The details of these and the other criteria are detailed in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist Posts, 4th edition, November 2008. All of the other criteria detailed in the Framework remain unchanged.
