HAI Update October 2009
Welcome to our HAI nurses group website. Just a few updates following our very successful annual conference in Kilkenny.
Congratulations to our prize-winners
We had a record number of submitted abstracts to the nursing group this year and our external reviewers were impressed with the very high standard of oral and poster presentations. Feedback will be available shortly and will be sent directly to you. Hopefully you will find this feedback useful for planning for next years abstracts!
Congratulations to our well deserved winners
Our oral presentation winner was Susan Piggott from Belfast who gave a very interesting and thought provoking presentation on “Prescribing a can of worms”.
Our poster prize-winner was Imelda Whelan from Naas General Hospital. Her poster described the Quality improvement delivered by a nurse managed anticoagulation service

I am delighted to inform you that one of our nursing members Ruth Thompson won a prize for her poster on Essential Thrombocythaemia in Northern Ireland: Prevalence and Pattern of Disease in the medical section of the HAI awards. Congratulations Ruth.

Committee Changes
We have new changes to our nurses committee Our Chairperson is Caroline McCaughey and our Nursing Secretary is Kathleen Beston. Lorna Storey has changed position and is now our Nursing Treasurer. We welcome our new members Theresa Mengahan and Ruth Thompson. For full details of committee members and contact details please see our committee members section.
